Lakeland Character Cottages
The friendly peaceful village of Staveley has old world Lakeland charm. It has several shops including butcher, baker, grocer, chemist. newsagent, also the well known Wilf`s cafe, next door to the newly opened walk round local brewery, (tasting available),bar and music venue, The village has two  pubs including the award winning ever popular Eagle and Child with its excellent range of quality meals and  riverside seating area. Both pubs and a childrens` adventure playground are within three minutes walk from the cottage.

Meadowbank Lodge is a detached  granary conversion of  traditional stone, tucked away in a quiet corner of the  village. It retains much of its character with a wealth of beams,   stone fireplace with solid fuel burning stove  providing heat to radiators. As an alternative there is an electric fire in the lounge and  electric storage radiators.
The cottage has a south facing secluded walled garden complete with patio table and chairs enjoying a delightful  outlook across the open meadow with fell views. There is a private parking area in the garden for one car. A large adjoining outbuilding makes an excellent storage area for cycles and contains an undercover decked area with patio furniture and plants, an ideal spot to see the setting sun beyond the fells.
The front entrance has a flagged floor  leading to the kitchen which has  oak units, electric split level oven and ceramic hob,microwave, fridge and freezer, washing machine, and dining area. The  lounge with colour television,video, DVD and music centre, is open plan to the kitchen.

There are two bedrooms ,each with radiator, one with double bed and pleasing outlook  towards the Kentmere Valley, the second has two single beds. The bathroom has toilet,washbasin, and electric shower over bath.
Electricity is included.
All bedlinen is provided please bring  towels.  

One well behaved dog by arrangement.

The cottage is warm and cosy for winter.

The Kentmere Valley is rich in wildlife, kingfishers may be seen above the weir at the edge of the village, here also in season salmon leap on their journey up river. The head of the valley has been a nesting area of the golden eagle in past years. Kentmere is an excellent area for walking and very popular with cyclists on the quiet lanes. There is also fishing in the tarn, (licence at the newsagents).
Nearby Kendal is a fascinating old market town retaining all the atmosphere of its cobbled yards, with its famous Castle ruins, Museum, Art Gallery, river, many restaurants, and shopping centre.
There is a Leisure Centre for sporting  activities and the Brewery Arts Centre for entertainment.
There are many places of interest within a short drive including Beatrix Potter`s former home, “Hill Top”at Near Sawrey (via car ferry),
Hawkshead, Wordsworth`s homes in Grasmere and Rydal, the Visitor Centre at  Brockhole near  Windermere,
Ambleside, Bowness, Grasmere, Coniston and the Langdale Valleys.
All are well worth a visit.
You can leave the car at the Cottage, bus stop close by, with frequent services to Kendal, Windermere, Ambleside,Grasmere and Keswick.. Make good use of your bus pass.
Train Station within ten minutes walk, with service to Windermere ,Kendal and Oxenholme.
